A Little Owl Perches Atop a Public Bridleway Sign in Surrey

Here in the UK we have the great privilege of being able to walk, hike, ramble or ride horses across what is often private land. This happens through a system of Public Footpaths and Public Bridleways and it is wonderful for walking dogs and riding horses.

On the Surrey-Hampshire border we have access to numerous private estates as well as to Ministry of Defense land where at times soldiers can be seen in training. Many communities have converted disused railway lines into walking and riding paths. As dog owners and lovers my husband and I are very grateful for being able to take advantage of this setup. And so are Billy and Molly, our dogs.

Other great places to experience the outdoors are simply the parks in our area. A week or so ago we went walking in Farnham Park in rather changing weather. It was one of those days where the sky was a black background against which the sun desperately tried to reveal itself.

Back before the snow came at Christmas I had Molly and Billy out and about in parts of Aldershot Military Land and the sun peeped out to brighten up the thick layers of brown leaves strewn across the ground.

Cold but gorgeous!
