Tongham Tasters, an informal fun way to discover wine, locally

Tongham Tasters, an informal fun way to discover wine, locally

My husband is really amazing. He’s always got some sort of project on the go, and I have to admire him because he usually manages to finish them all in a reasonable amount of time!

Currently he is working on a small gauge model railway that runs around a shelf in the guest bedroom (no kidding); a Scalextrics race car track that runs around a shelf over the bed in the guest bedroom (really no kidding but I think I wish I was); a series of country walks starting and ending at Tongham Village Hall called (you guessed it) Tongham Village Hall Walks, complete with hand-drawn maps à la Alfred Wainwright (these are brilliant and will be on a dedicated website very soon so watch for a link); and our next 8-course Champagne Gala Fundraising Dinner for Tongham Village Hall on September 11th, 2010. He does the wine research and commentating while I do the cooking and schmoozing to get our guests to dig deeper into their pockets and donate funds to renovate our Lovely Victorian Lady, Tongham Village Hall.

Sainsbury's Blanc de Noirs Champagne
Sainsbury’s Blanc de Noirs Champagne is a delightful, excellent value bubbly for that everyday sizzle!

As if this weren’t enough to keep him busy he has now created Tongham Tasters so local people can get together and talk about wine, one of our favourite subjects!

Join us for an informal monthly get-together and explore the world of wine. Share your favourite wines or bring new ones to try. Taste other participants’ choices and discover their views. Six wines per session; Costs shared between participants; max £10 per person per session.

First get-together
“Jane’s Supermarket Wines”
Thursday 14th October 2010
Grange Road, Tongham
8 pm start

RSVP by 7th October on 07717 876743 or email tonghamtaster@gmail.com

So now that he has roped me into participating with him in his new project (I wouldn’t have it any other way) I wonder what he’ll come up with next?
